Early Rumor: Derrick Rose To Sign With Arn Tellem

Derrick Rose / Leon RoseDarren Rovell reports that Memphis standout Freshman guard, Derrick Rose, will sign with WMG agent, Arn Tellem. I recently discussed that NBA Early Entries will start to select agents right about now, and if Rose officially picks Tellem for representation, he will not disappoint. Well, at least he won’t disappoint me. I never thought that I had a chance at landing Derrick, but another Rose may be upset that he won’t be raking any commission off of the top 5 pick in this year’s draft.

On the day of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship game, I hypothesized which Kansas and Memphis players would sign with which agents. Based on the fact that no particular agent has had a grasp on the Memphis Tigers program in the recent past coupled with William Wesley’s deep connections with John Calipari, Derrick Rose, and agent, Leon Rose, it seemed like Derrick was destined to go with Leon and his agency, CAA. If Darren Rovell’s report is correct, then I am a little shocked. Leon Rose could still end up scoring Chris Douglas-Roberts, but I imagine that he had his sights first-and-foremost on the kid who he shares a last name with.

On a side-note, I have to disagree with Rovell about something. I don’t think Derrick Rose, with all of his talent, ends up being the #1 pick. The #1 pick will be Michael Beasley, case closed.

I have to disagree with you about who will be the #1 pick. I really think it will come down to who wins the lottery. One can look at landscape of the NBA this year and see that great point guard play is extremely important when looking to make a run into the playoffs and deep into the playoffs. I think the emergence of Chris Paul as an MVP candidate and the success of the N.O. Hornets this season will weigh heavily on the minds of NBA execs. when evaluating who to pick with the #1 selection. Also, some front office people will not be able to ignore the Michael Beasley – Derrick Coleman comparisons. Beasley may go #1, but I do not think it is a case-closed matter.

Who goes #1 will all depend on WHAT TEAM GETS THE PICK..the Heat would have the best chance of getting the 1st pick sense they WILL have the wrost record in the L (meaning the most ping pongs)if this all pans out as it usually does. The Heat should get the 1st pick. IT WOULD MAKE NO SENSE FOR THEM TO TAKE BEASLY WHEN THEY HAVE SHAWN MARION ALREADY. with them lacking a point guard suitable for Dwade to play with at this stage. I think it makes sense for them to take Derrick Rose.

Rose has been on the biggest stage of college Basketball and played very well, but also did it infront of millions on a weekend that the who’s who of shot callers of various companys (endorsments) witness first hand and are now aware of this man and his skills . all of you who think Beasly would be a good fit in Miami are insane. if the heat do get the 1st pick and the sonics get the 2nd….I see the sonics make some kind of trade of Jeff Green to get another top pick because I dont see him and Beasly playing together, so you might as well get something for him (green) and take Beasly.
