Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up

Congrats to Kevin Youkilis, an all-star Jewish baseball player, for his recent marriage to Enza Sambataro, a non-Jew.  Enza is CEO of Hits for Kids, Youklilis’ charitable foundation.  Big week in the press for Dynasty.  First a feature on YOUNG MONEY magazine, then the Independent Florida Alligator, and finally a link back to the YOUNG MONEY piece in Sports Illustrated.  Press is nice, but it’s back to business as usual, growing the right ways and doing our best for our current clients.  Here are some links I missed this past week:

Baseball

Basketball

Football

  • The kind of athlete any agent would love to represent [Nov. 22 will be busy for FSU star].
  • Here is to hoping that Larry Johnson regains his composure and once again becomes a force in the NFL [Johnson wrestles his biggest foe: himself].

By Darren Heitner

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

For those interested in following the story of the two, young Indian men looking to make it to the MLB, here’s a link to their blog. My understanding is that Rinku and Dinesh were the winner and first runner up, respectively, of a contest in their home country of India, and have come to America to showcase their talents… Do they stand a legitimate shot at getting signed?
