Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-up (12/19/2014)

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo’s salary looks a lot better when factoring his non-existent state income tax obligation.

Shabbat Shalom my friends.  And a Merry Christmas to those celebrating the holiday next week.  A lot of interesting occurrences this week, including a featured interview on Above the Law and some coverage of a trademark application I filed for Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green (“Money Green”).  As the year wraps up, I am looking back on my idea of starting HEITNER LEGAL back in June, and it tough to tell whether creating that law firm or this website was the smartest business move I have ever made.  Thanks for the support, as always.  This week on FORBES: (1) Will ESPN, Yahoo! Or CBS Buy This Fantasy Sports Startup?; (2) Sports Ugly Sweaters In High Demand This Holiday Season; (3) Joe Philbin May Be Done After Miami Dolphins Miss Playoffs Yet Again; (4) It Won’t Be Easy For Adrian Peterson To Set Aside Arbitration Award; (5) Who Will Earn A Hefty Commission On Russell Wilson’s Second Contract?; (6) Athlete Training Leader Adds Corporate Offerings Through MediFit Acquisition; and (7) Daily Fantasy Sports Makes Its Way To Facebook.  And as always, the weekly wrap-up:

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
