CAA Sports & Roc Nation Sports Part Ways

RNSRoc Nation Sports & Creative Artists Agency (CAA) Sports announced today that their planned 2 year partnership has come to an end. The agencies said in a joint statement that “They have enjoyed their time as partners and have achieved many successes together. Going forward, they will each focus their efforts on their own business opportunities and clientele.” The two agencies joined together in April 2013 when Shawn “Jay Z” Carter launched Roc Nation Sports and have co-represented the likes of Mariners 2B Robinson Cano, Thunder F Kevin Durant and NFL Giants WR Victor Cruz.

Carter stated during the initial launch of Roc Nation Sports back in 2013 that “Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years.”

Roc Nation Sports during its short tenure in the athletic representation field has landed start clients such as WNBA Phenom Skylar Diggins, Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, and undefeated super middleweight boxer Andre Ward.

CAA Sports represents more than 1,000 of the world’s best athletes in baseball, football, hockey, basketball, soccer, tennis, and golf, in addition to icons in individual sports, Olympians, coaches, broadcasters, and other sports personalities. Beyond conventional athlete representation, CAA Sports provides unique opportunities for clients off the field, in areas including licensing, endorsements, speaking, philanthropy, video games, and digital content. CAA Sports also works globally in the areas of broadcast rights, corporate marketing initiatives, and sports properties for sales and sponsorship opportunities (via http://sports.caa.com/).

I hope Roc Nation will be able to sustain itself on its own. I feel like CAA provided it with an umbrella of security.
