Per Darren Heitner, Roc Nation has hired Kyle Thousand as its Managing Director of Baseball. He was previously at Excel Sports Management as a MLBPA Certified Player Agent.

Thousand played collegiate baseball at the University of Iowa and was drafted in the 26th round of the 2003 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. He played in the minor leagues with Toronto’s Single-A Pulaski Blue Jays for the 2003 season before being sidelined with a slap lesion tear in his right shoulder, which ultimately ended his career. After retiring from professional baseball in 2003, he decided to pursue his law degree at Creighton University’s School of Law. Before working at Excel Sports Management, he practiced law at Katten Muchin Rosemen LLP for four years.

Roc Nation was founded in 2008 as a full-service entertainment company inclusive of artists, songwriters, producer and engineer management; music publishing; touring & merchandising; film & television; new business ventures; and a music label. Roc Nation Sports, a division of Roc Nation, launched in the spring of 2013. The client roster includes Major Leaguers such as Robinson Cano, CC Sabathia, Rusney Castillo, and Yoenis Cespedes.
