Johnny Manziel Re-Hires Agent Erik Burkhardt

It seems Johnny Manziel is set to attempt a major comeback to the NFL. The NFL Network recently reported that the former Heisman trophy winner is drawing “real interest” from teams. Additionally, Manziel has re-hired his old agent Erik Burkhardt of Select Sports to represent him.

Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network also reported that Burkhardt required Manziel to make “serious commitments” before he would represent him again. It was a little over a year ago that Burkhardt fired Manziel as his client stating, “Though I will remain a friend and Johnny supporter, and he knows I have worked tirelessly to arrange a number of professional options for him to continue to pursue, it has become painfully obvious that his future rests solely in his own hands. His family and I have gone to great lengths to outline the steps we feel he must take to get his life in order. Accountability is the foundation of any relationship, and without it the funtion of my work is counterproductive. I truly wish the best for Johnny and sincerely hope he can, and will, find the kind of peace and happiness he deserves.”

Clearly, Burkhardt feels that Manziel has his life back in order and will be accountable moving forward. His job will now be to convince an NFL team to feel the same way.
