Kyle Kuzma signs with CAA Sports

Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma recently changed agencies and is now represented by Aaron Mintz of Creative Artists Agency. Kuzma was previously with Priority Sports and Entertainment.

Kuzma is entering his third season with the Lakers after averaging a career-high 18.7 points-per-game. He is set to make $1,974,600 and the Lakers have a club-option of 3,562,187 for the 2020-2021 season.

It’s interesting to point out the Lakers relationship with a few of Mintz’ client who were traded or left the Lakers in free-agency. Mintz represents D’Angelo Russell who the Lakers traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2017. The Lakers also decided to not re-sign Mintz’ client Julius Randle in 2018. Randle went on to sign with the Pelicans.

Lonzo Ball signed with CAA this offseason before being dealt to the Pelicans in a blockbuster-trade for Anthony Davis.

On the other hand, the Lakers roster, built around LeBron James, features three other players who are also signed with James’ agent, Rich Paul. Anthony Davis, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Talen Horton-Tucker, and James are all represented by Klutch Sports and Entertainment which is now owned by United Talent Agency.

While the Lakers relationship with several CAA clients could be mere coincidence, it interesting to point out. Kuzma has two-years left on his rookie deal, but he has made it known that he wants to stay with the Lakers long-term.
