Rep1 Sports Grows Its Baseball Footprint

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic has reported that Rep1 Sports has acquired Peter Greenberg’s baseball client roster, previously managed by GSE Worldwide.

Peter Greenberg, according to his LinkedIn profile, is the President of Baseball Operations for talent agency GSE Worldwide (previously known as The Legacy Agency or “TLA”).

Previously known as Peter Greenberg & Associates, Greenberg’s agencies made waves in the baseball player representation agency, especially given its presence in Latin America. When Greenberg’s agency was acquired by TLA in 2012, Bleacher Report wrote that the deal is likely to “shake up” the baseball world because at the time, as a result of the purchase, TLA became one of the largest baseball agencies having represented over 150 Major and Minor Leaguers including all stars such as Johan Santana and Jose Reyes.

According to Forbes, who ranked Greenberg one of the best agents in baseball in 2007, Greenberg is fluent in Spanish and dominated the Latin American talent scene.

The purchase of Greenberg’s client roster, and the talents of Greenberg himself, is a strong move from Rep1 as it begins to make inroads as a power broker in the baseball industry. According to the Rep1 Twitter page, the agency already represents stars such as Luis Severino (New York Yankees) and Eloy Jimenez (Chicago White Sox).

Greenberg brings with him an impressive list of clients including Ronald Acnua Jr. (Atlanta Braves) and Starling Marte (Arizona Diamondbacks), among others.
