Keenan Allen Cashes In

Keenan Allen, the underrated star on the LA Charges is getting a contract extension per Ian Rappaport of the NFL Network. According to sources, the deal is worth a total of $80,100,000 with a total guarantee of $50,000,000. This deal makes Allen, who is represented by Joby Branion and Rocco Scarfone of Vanguard Sports Group, the second highest paid wide receiver in the league behind Julio Jones of the Atlanta Falcons.

Allen, who was the 3rd round pick by the Chargers in the 2013 NFL Draft, is arguably the face of the franchise after former Chargers QB Phillip Rivers signed with the Colts in the offseason, is another big contract that the Chargers have done this summer after Joey Bosa and restructuring Melvin Ingram. He was entering the final season of a $45,000,000 contract he signed before the 2016 season and this new deal ties him to the franchise through the 2024 season when he’ll be 32 years old.

Aside from being the face of the offense, Allen has put up spectacular numbers to back it up. He has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last 3 seasons and being one of four pass-catchers to put up 100 or more receptions of at least 15 yards or more, as well as catching 6 touchdowns for 1,100 yards in that same timeframe.
