Buchwald Strategically Partners With CSE, Expands Into Sports

Buchwald, an industry leader in talent representation, has expanded its agency into the sports stratosphere with its partnership with CSE Talent. The new strategic alliance with CSE will be named Buchwald Sports.

Buchwald was launched by Don Buchwald and five associates in 1977 and for the past 44 years has offered representation in every area of the entertainment industry: commercial, broadcast, film, theatre, television, literary, feature film packaging, personal appearance, syndication (radio, television and digital), branding/digital, and emerging talent.

Now combining forces with CSE, which was founded by Lonnie Cooper in 1986, Buchwald Sports, hopes to cultivate more opportunities for its sports clients.

CSE represents many professional athletes, coaches, and broadcasters including World Cup champion Hope Solo, CBS Sports broadcaster Ernie Johnson Jr., Philadelphia 76ers Head Coach Doc Rivers and many others.

The alliance will allow Buchwald to work with CSE’s client roster to develop and create opportunities in the unscripted/alternative programming and scripted spaces for film, television, streaming, and digital platforms.

“In the evergrowing media and marketing landscape, we are thrilled to join forces with CSE. By merging our reputable entertainment client initiatives with CSE’s respected athletes, coaches, and journalists, we will create multi-faceted brands and greater creative opportunities for our clients,” said Julia Buchwald and Ryan Martin in a joint statement.

Buchwald is the latest of a number of media-focused agencies to expand into sports. In October 2020, ICM Partners acquired Stellar group. Recently Endeavor, the parent company of WME, expanded its sports representation practice with its investment in BDA Sports Management. United Talent Agency also recently made a strategic investment in Klutch Sports.

“This exciting partnership affords our elite sports, news and entertainment talent even greater resources in developing original content,” said Danny Martoe, CSE President. “In a time where there is an insatiable desire for new documentaries, unscripted shoes and podcasts, together we’ll increase the efficiency to deliver top-shelf names to new ideas will change the marketplace.”
