Normally we pop the Manischewitz on Shabbat, but this week it is all about the Champaign…Champaign, Illinois, that is. This week’s Friday Wrap-Up post is brought to you all the way from the University of Illinois. That’s right…I’m in Illinois, baby! Go Illini…beat OSU!

Charlie Weis is 1-8 as head coach of Notre Dame this year. You think the school may be wondering why they agreed to a contract that will pay him another $25 million over the next eight years? Gotta hand it to Bob Lamonte of Professional Sports Representation for getting his client, Weis, his current contract with ND [Notre Dame’s Charlie Weis: Why Such A Big Contract?].
A pretty convincing argument that Barry Bonds is being heavily undervalued by MLB clubs…particularly in the AL [Shhh… Look Who Else is a Free Agent].

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

Lupica is such a blowhard at times. Why should Boras have let the Yankees set a ceiling? Why should management and not the player have the power? And what have the Yankees done for Rodriguez all these years, other than surround him with overpaid, aging pitchers?

Alex Rodriguez will make more money than he would have with the Yankees elsewhere, and chances are (especially if he goes to the Angels) he’ll have a better shot at a title as well. Especially with the three stooges (Hank, Cashman and Levine) the Pinstripes currently have at the helm.

Allinson…what was that score supposed to be? 🙂
