Took the week off for a vacation in the Caribbean Sea that included stops in Cozumel, Falmouth, Grand Cayman and Labadee. Today is a sea day and then back to Miami tomorrow. It was a very welcome vacation, but I’m still finding a pocket of time to push this weekly wrap-up of sports business-related links […]

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
Labor peace in Major League Baseball and now the NBA. It’s a good thing for fans and hopefully works out for owners and players as well. I am taking a real vacation next week, a week-long Celebrity cruise from Saturday through Saturday, so it is very unlikely that you will get a Friday wrap-up next […]
Shabbat Shalom from Las Vegas, where I’m celebrating an important birthday of one of my best friends. I feel like I need a residence out here; I find myself in the desert no less than five times per year. It was a rough week in football for me. The Gators got dominated. The Dolphins got […]
Sorry ladies, I’m off the market. Last Thursday, at Thanksgiving dinner, I dropped to one knee and proposed to my then-girlfriend. Thankfully she said yes. Let the wedding planning commence! This weekend I’m sticking in Fort Lauderdale, but I’m off to Las Vegas the following weekend for one of my best friend’s thirtieth birthdays. How […]
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Earlier this week, I made my first trip to Mexico City and watched the Oakland Raiders beat the Houston Texans. Overall, it was enjoyable. However, the traffic and parking was a pain, and the paper airplanes as well as green lasers hitting the field made for a bit […]
Being back in Gainesville last weekend was a joy, especially with a Gators football win. Let’s see if they can pull off the unthinkable with wins against LSU, FSU and then maybe even Alabama? Heading to Louie CK tonight, a big charity event Saturday night, friend’s wedding on Sunday and then off to Mexico City […]
President Trump. You all ready to say that yet? It comes as a shocker to many, but not my mother, who bet all-you-can-eat lobster on the Election. I’ll be paying up shortly. How about the Miami Dolphins? I certainly did not expect the team to make it back to .500 on the season. Unfortunately, my […]
This week’s Friday wrap-up is coming to you from Los Angeles, where I am stationed for the Breeders’ Cup and surrounding events. It has been a busy week of travel between Las Vegas, Washington D.C. and now L.A., and the adventures do not stop here. Next week, I am off to Arizona and then Gainesville, […]
Off to Las Vegas this evening for a real quick getaway before another busy week at Heitner Legal, which includes even more travel. Skipping the sportsbooks on Sunday to partake in some golf, which I hear is superb in and around Vegas. But on Saturday, it’s a big rivalry game between my Gators and the […]
I can’t wait for the election to be over. There is a bad candidate and a worse candidate, and a media circus that is loving every minute of it all while checking out the bottom line and bathing in money. But how about the Dolphins last weekend? I bet that surprised many of you. Hopefully, […]
