After signing a multi-year extension with IMG in 2011, marketing agent Alan Zucker left the agency for Excel Sports earlier this week.
Zucker now joins a few former IMG employees at Excel, including sports agents Jeff Schwartz, Casey Close, and Mark Steinberg. He currently serves as the marketing agent for a number of athletes including the Manning brothers, auto racing driver Danica Patrick, and the Minnesota Twins Joe Mauer.
ESPN’s Darren Rovell tweeted out Thursday, “Alan Zucker could very well be the best sports marketing agent in the game. Huge loss for IMG.”
Last summer, Forbes.com listed Excel Sports as the No. 5 most valuable sports agency in the world, having close to 200 contract years under management, which are valued at $1.45 billion. The agency also represents the Minnesota Timberwolves Kevin Love, the New York Yankees Derek Jeter, and the Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin.
