BOSS Mode

That’s right…The Business of Sports School.  This new high school created by the New York City Department of Education will open its doors in September to 81 students, in an effort to teach the business of sports with an emphasis on making it in the real world.  Students will also take normal courses like math and English.  This is one result of Mayor Bloomberg’s attempt to revamp New York’s vocational schools.  But the Big Apple isn’t doing this all alone; ESPN the Magazine has joined the team as an education partner.  What does that mean?  ESPN will help BOSS develop its curriculum and provide other educational support, but will not be giving financial assistance for its start-up.  In addition, ESPN the Magazine will open up some positions for the mandatory internships that students will participate in at various companies in the sports industry.
