Midway through a 4 year, $35 million, contract, Angels shortstop Erick Aybar has decided to make a switch in his representation. Aybar has dropped Relativity Baseball and signed with Roc Nation Sports. Juan Perez will serve as Aybar’s agent per Liz Mullen of SportsBusiness Journal.

In 2014 Aybar had a .278 batting average with 7 HR’s and 68 RBI’s. The former Gold Glover also had 75 double plays and 10 errors last season. Aybar was also named to the AL All-Star team in 2014 as an injury replacement for Alex Gordon.

Juan Perez is more than just an agent. Along with Michael Yormark, Perez presides as president of Roc Nation Sports. Last year, Perez did an interview with GQ in which he stated they are only looking for “cream of the crop” players. I guess Aybar fits the bill.

If Aybar is “cream of the crop”, they haven’t found the phrase to describe Trout yet.
