Roc Nation Sports has signed 17 year old tennis star, Frances Tiafoe. Tiafoe is the first tennis player to sign with Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports division and will be managed by Wajid Syed. One of Syed’s first moves as Tiafoe’s agent was to correct the spelling of his first name. Media, tournaments and official tennis Web sites have spelled his given name “Francis” for years. Apparently his name was misspelled on an entry form early in his career and no one bothered to correct the mistake.

Tiafoe is currently ranked No. 520 in the world by the ATP, after he peaked as the world’s No. 2 junior player. Tiafoe is from Riverdale, Maryland, and is considered an emerging star in American tennis.

In 2013, a 15-year-old Tiafoe became the youngest winner in the history of the Orange Bowl International and followed up by winning the 2014 Easter Bowl. He made his ATP Tour debut in July at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C.
