Dynasty Notes – Part 2

Dynasty Notes will take you through the days when Darren and I (Matthew Vuckovich) did not even know each other, to Dynasty becoming an LLC, to signing our first client, and beyond. If you have not yet read Dynasty Notes – Part 1, go ahead and read it.  Enjoy Dynasty Notes – Part 2.

One day in October 2006, I came across a website called “I Want To Be A Sport Agent“, and this is where my relationship with Darren started.

After reading through every article the site contained, I decided to contact Darren.  I found him on Facebook (thanks to technology these days) and sent him a message.  The message was telling him about who I was and the experiences that I have with professional/collegiate athletes and agents.  I also asked Darren some questions about who he was, why he started the blog, and what he was all about.  After numerous conversations through Facebook, Darren and I felt that we were both going in the same direction.  For those of you who do not know Darren (he’s nothing special trust me), he is a very determined, driven, intelligent young fellow.  Darren was just being himself when he asked me questions pertaining to my experience and knowledge in the industry (even back when the blog was very small, he was very critical about whom he brought on board). I guess my experiences and knowledge of the “game” caught his eye.  He offered me a spot on the blog as a contributor to see what I had.  I must say that I was so excited to be a part of something that I truly believed in (you have to or you will never succeed). After years of researching the agent industry and reading books, this was my chance to speak out and let people know my opinion. I was introduced to the blog world as Darren’s wingman since his old contributor, Nicholas Shwayri, had to worry about his first year of law school. After my introduction, I posted an article about the importance of a summer internship and how beneficial it can be for a young individual to break into the business.  After that post, I think my writing skills went down hill as I could not write a good post for the life of me (Editor’s Note: Matt sure did get the sh*t ripped out of him by our viewers! 🙂 ).

After that, Darren and I started to truly act like a team.  I feel that this was the turning point for what was to come (Dynasty Athlete Representation).  Darren, the thinking machine that he is, had visions that one day the blog would conduct interviews with agents. By conducting agent interviews, the blog would not only get a view from an inside source, but it would also gain a huge amount of credibility. since I came to the realization that writing articles was not my forte, I found a huge opportunity to prove myself not only to Darren, but to everyone who read the blog.  Now we can talk about me again (Editors Note: Surprise, surprise…).  I am a very outgoing, persistent, motivated, driven person and the new task of interviewing agents was right up my alley.  I cold called and emailed hundreds of agents trying to secure an interview.  It was extremely hard because we had no credibility and the agents were not biting. Darren kept pushing me to keep at it.  I literally had to call and call and force agents to do interviews with me.  This was a learning experience, as I learned how being persistent can get you places if you use it in the right way.  After many days, hours and a few months on the grind, I finally landed a few agents and the new section “Interview With The Agent” was born.  It happened at a great time, because SportsAgentBlog.com had just celebrated its 1 year anniversary.  With the new year ahead of us, Darren and I were more focused and driven than ever before.  Inside, we both knew that the year 2007 would be something special for the both of us.
