According to Mike Florio of ProFootball Talk, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has signed with CAA to handle his off-field representation. He was previously represented by Excel Sports Management.
Rodgers will remain with David Dunn of Athletes First when it comes to his on-field representation. CAA has established itself as a premier agency for on-field contracts, especially in the realm of professional football. The agency represents the likes of the Manning brothers, Drew Brees, JJ Watt andNdamunkong Suh among others.
Rodgers is under contract with the Packers for the next three seasons, becoming an unrestricted free agent after the 2019 season. The shift to CAA for his off-field representation is an interesting one, causing some to wonder if it is an attempt to build a relationship with him in order to represent him during his next contract negotiation.
While he has been a fairly visible face of the Packers franchise, he looks to continue building his off-field persona like that of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. He has mostly been seen in State Farm commercials, but given his stature as one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, signing with a top-tier agency such as CAA will provide the opportunity to increase that exposure.
