Per a company press release, nutrition and wellness company ProSupps has signed Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and LA Chargers linebacker Melvin Ingram as its newest Official Athletes.
The signing of the duo marks ProSupps’ first venture into professional football. In becoming Official Athletes, the company will create a strategic relationship between the brand and athletes and will place both athletes at the forefront of ProSupps marketing endeavors.
Both Smith-Schuster and Ingram are represented by Roc Nation Sports and are having breakout seasons on the field. The Steelers’ 2nd round pick of the 2017 NFL Draft out of USC, Smith-Shuster, has reeled in 29 receptions for 521 yards so far this season. Off the field, he is quickly becoming a social media sensation thanks to his charismatic presence on Twitter. The 20-year-old Long Beach, California-native is currently the youngest player in the league and until recently did not have his driver’s license. Because of this, he frequently rode his bike to the Steelers’ practice facility until it was stolen one day, spurring a social media movement highlighted by the hashtag “#TeamFindJuJusBike.” Luckily, it was returned, but as a backup plan he finally got his driver’s license.
Melvin Ingram is a former first round pick by the then-San Diego Chargers in 2012 out of South Carolina. This season he has 34 combined tackles, 8.5 sacks and one fumble recovery. He is making a case for this year’s NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award on the field, but he is making a name for himself off the field as well. In August he released a mixtape with Miami rapper BZZY titled “Reap What You Sow” marking his entry into the music industry.
“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome JuJu and Melvin into the ProSupps family,” said T.J. Humphreys, President and CEO of ProSupps. “JuJu is absolutely redefining the role of wide receiver in the NFL as we know it, and Melvin has become one of the top-rated pass rushers in the league. But above all, these two gentleman will represent my brand with the same level of excitement and swagger that has made ProSupps the fastest growing brand in the world, with over 72 countries and counting.”
