Are you ready for the 5th edition of “Jewish Major Leaguers” baseball cards? I hope I get Ian Kinsler’s shayna punim! Did you know that Long Island University’s basketball team sacrificed competing in the 1936 Olympics because of Hitler’s persecution of Jews? Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur may prevent Jewish NY Jets fans from going to the team’s big games against the Patriots and Titans. I signed up for Summer and Fall classes this week (I will be in Gainesville this Summer instead of back down in South Florida). Only one year left…it’s kind of weird to think that I will soon be a 3L in my 7th year in Gainesville, FL. Anyway, I got some pretty awesome classes (finally!) for Summer and Fall. During Summer, I will be taking Business Organizations and Analysis & Drafting of Intellectual Property Transactions. In Fall, I am enrolled in the Sports Law Seminar, Media Law, 1st Amendment Law, Negotiation & Mediation, and Law Practice Management. I am actually excited to take each and every one of those classes. Here are some stories I missed over the past week:
Football
- The Chiefs are starting to load up on LBs [Source: Chiefs, LB Thomas agree to deal].
- Now that Fred is gone, Maurice wants his money. Is he a top-3 back? [Jones-Drew signs $31M deal]
Soccer
- Have to purchases a license to provide match updates by Twitter? [Twitter Is The Enemy of the Premier League]
Motor Sports
- Hopefully NASCAR embraces its drivers taking to social media and promotes this type of activity in the future [Drivers embrace social networking, reach out to younger fans].
Sports Business
- Russell Scibetti aims to aggregate the most useful sports business video content [The Business of Sports Video Library].
- Good news for our friends at SB Nation, and good news for the entire blogging community! [SB Nation Scores A Link Deal With The NHL].
Basketball
- Roughly $19 million over 4 years for Flip [Saunders has deal to coach Wizards].
- Add one more to Career Sports & Entertainment’s NCAA basketball coach client list [Thomas’ next stop: FIU, as coach].
Baseball
- Dynasty’s Bryan Swalley used to play professional baseball. His former agent was on the good side of a drug bust [Errant text message leads to drug bust in W.Va.].
