The Wash Up 1st October-7th October

With the Australian Federal Election fast approaching, both parties have made their pledges for the minimum they’ll spend when it comes to sport. The current Federal Government has promised a minimum of $129 million into sports funding, while the opposition has promised only $32 million. The majority of the Federal Govermenment’s funding is to aid sports ovals affected by the drought. Got some role model clients this week. Western Bulldogs players Daniel Cross and Tom Williams saved a drowning woman in Hong Kong. The pair swam 200m meters from shore to save the woman who was believed to be attempting suicide. [Western Bulldogs rescue woman in Hong Kong]

Trade week in the AFL is just beginning, with the Judd deal still at a stalemate. This is the most exciting time of the season for us budding Sports Agents, as the whole process is fairly transparent.

Closely related to the trade week is the AFL Draft and the Camp has gotten underway. Judging by the results, it looks like Clayton Hinkley is a very fit athlete. It will be interesting to see how he fairs in the draft with the rigors of the modern game requiring a larger sense of athletic ability.

SportsBiz has an excellent article on Lewis Hamilton, and if he is to win the F1 Championship this year, he could be looking at around $60 million in endorsements. This would dwarf Raikkonen’s reported $40 million in earnings.

This should probably get a separate mention but I Want to be a Sports Agent was ranked 55 on the Top 100 Most Influential Sports Blogs! [Link] Thanks for supporting us and continue spreading the word!
