Shalom to everyone in Denver at the annual Sports Lawyers Association conference. It has been a few years since I attended the event, which is a great gathering of professionals and students interested in practicing Sports Law. Unfortunately, I’m not in attendance this year, but Heitner Legal does have some representation there in Jillian Postal, […]

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
This week, I celebrated two years of being in a relationship with the woman I currently consider my fiancee, who will ultimately become my wife in December. And happy Kentucky Derby weekend! This week on Forbes: (1) 2017 NFL Draft: 1st Round By The Numbers; (2) This Week In […]
Here are some quick notes on how certain sports agencies fared through the first two rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft: Creative Artists Agency (CAA) dominated the first round. We checked in with Dandy for an update on his […]
Our friends at Inside The League do a great job of covering all things on the inner workings of the NFL. Including among the content delivered is a regularly updated ranking of certified Contract Advisors based on the number of players they represent who are signed to Uniform Player Contracts. The list changes month-to-month based on […]
April is a big month of traveling, with stops in New York, Boston and Washington D.C., two of the cities currently having teams in the NBA Playoffs, with Boston hardly counting among them based on their play to date. A trip to Milan could be coming in early May, but that may be derailed by […]
What a wild season of highs and lows for the Miami Heat. The team showed signs of promise in the preseason only to flaunt the worst record in the NBA at the start of the regular season. Then, the team got healthy and gave South Florida (including yours truly) a bunch of hope before losing […]
