Author: Darren Heitner
Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
A grievance filed by a couple of Contract Advisors against New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins has been settled for an undisclosed sum of money. The grievance, filed by agents Malik Shareef and Rodney Thomas with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) per the guidelines provided by the NFLPA’s Regulations Governing Contract Advisors, sought quantum meruit relief […]

Dandy, a thirteen year NFL agent, represents the likes of Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins and Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson, amongst others. We checked in with Dandy for an update on his […]
Our friends at Inside The League do a great job of covering all things on the inner workings of the NFL. Including among the content delivered is a regularly updated ranking of certified Contract Advisors based on the number of players they represent who are signed to Uniform Player Contracts. The list changes month-to-month based on […]
April is a big month of traveling, with stops in New York, Boston and Washington D.C., two of the cities currently having teams in the NBA Playoffs, with Boston hardly counting among them based on their play to date. A trip to Milan could be coming in early May, but that may be derailed by […]
What a wild season of highs and lows for the Miami Heat. The team showed signs of promise in the preseason only to flaunt the worst record in the NBA at the start of the regular season. Then, the team got healthy and gave South Florida (including yours truly) a bunch of hope before losing […]
Hello my friends, and welcome to another edition of the weekly wrap-up. This week’s version comes to you from Philadelphia, where I will be speaking on a panel concerning esports at an amazing event put on by Andrew Brandt and Villanova Law: 2017 Jeffrey S. Moorad Sports Law Journal Symposium. It is also Masters week, which […]
It’s been a couple of weeks of non-stop travel, between Austin, Las Vegas and New York. Hopefully, I get to stay around home-base for the next few weeks before heading back to New York for some more Heitner Legal-related work. Amazing game-winner against Wisconsin followed by a heartbreaking loss to South Carolina for my Florida […]
Miraculously, I came back from Las Vegas a winner, and actually made a decent amount of money between betting on college basketball games (a lot of money won on the Gators) as well as poker. Was about even in blackjack. Today, I’m in Gainesville, where it is currently illegal to place bets on sporting events, […]
Here’s a special St. Patrick’s Day, Darren in Las Vegas edition of the weekly wrap-up. I’m in Vegas for what has been an annual tradition for so many years that I have lost count. Sin City is the destination of choice for the first couple rounds of the NCAA Tournament, and there is a lot […]
