The Philadelphia Phillies now boast a 7-1 lifetime record. Until two days ago, the Philadelphia Phillies were invincible. They were undefeated. Fans loved them and swore to never boo them again. Okay, scratch the last sentence…a Philadelphia fan without an arsenal of “boos” is no true Philadelphian. Anyway, the Phillies are no longer flawless when […]
Author: Darren Heitner
Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
The NCAA basketball season is quickly coming to a close, and Dynasty is hoping to get into the world of basketball in the upcoming draft. Speaking of Dynasty, I never really got to publicly thank the creator of the Dynasty logo. If you like it and want to talk to him about creating a logo […]
What do you know? Scott Boras got hammered publicly again. The main question, though, is whether the criticism of Boras is credible, since it comes from a guy who is more prone to spouting belligerent comments than Boras’ last critic (Kenny Rogers). Gary Sheffield went on a tirade on Thursday, calling out Boras in every […]
In his third and final year of law school, SportsAgentBlog.com contributor, Jason Wulterkens, wrote a wonderful paper on Major League Baseball’s use of Final-Offer Arbitration (FOA). After noticing my latest report on FOA, Jason decided to send me his law school paper so that I may analyze it and break it down into its most […]
Weekend Full Of Symposiums
If you are planning on being in Tallahassee, FL, Miami, FL, or Philadelphia, PA, then you are in luck (unless you seriously despise sports symposiums). All three cities will be hosting various panels discussing the legal and business side of sports on Saturday. Descriptions below: University of Miami 11th ANNUAL ENTERTAINMENT AND SPORTS LAW SYMPOSIUM […]
Take Your Pick: Boras Or Steinberg
Jon Haber, a student writer at the Daily Trojan (USC’s university sponsored newspaper), likes Leigh Steinberg and does not think very highly of Scott Boras. In fact, he considers them to be at opposite extremes in the way that they conduct business. This is what Haber had to say about Boras: On one side, there’s […]
Dynasty Notes will take you through the development of Dynasty Athlete Representation, LLC. If you have not yet read Dynasty Notes – Part 8, go ahead and read it. Enjoy Dynasty Notes – Part 9. You may notice a big change. Not only did I personally design a brand new website for Dynasty, but the […]
Pacman Hires New Agents
I recently had the pleasure to serve as Moderator for a panel of Agents at UF’s Law’s Inaugural Sports Symposium. The panel consisted of Alliance Sports Management’s CEO, Glenn Schwartzman, NFLPA agent, Kristine Rosendahl, and current commissioner of the UFL and former CEO of Axcess Sports & Entertainment, Michael Huyghue. All three were excellent speakers […]
Flash
The topic is actually not about my boy, Dwyane Wade. Instead, I am reaching out to see if any of you (the loyal readers of SportsAgentBlog.com) have experience using Macromedia Flash or know of someone with the capability to create a nice flash movie. I am interested in having a Flash Intro for Dynasty similar […]
The inaugural UF Law Sports Symposium went much better than expected. The panelists and moderators were fantastic and the attendance was adequate (many people said that there were more people present than at Princeton’s big symposium). Those Ivy League schools better watch out. I fully plan on making UF’s yearly symposium the premier gathering of […]
