This edition of Friday Wrap-Up is coming to you from Hollywood, FL, where it is still a sunny 80 degrees in the middle of winter. It pains me to think that I will be back in the 30s upon my return to Gainesville. Anyway, it is time to pop the champagne bottles, because for the […]
Author: Darren Heitner
Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

In case you did not already know, I am a 1st year law student at the University of Florida. As a 1L, I have taken the opportunity to get involved and was elected onto the Executive Board of the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Society (EASLS) as the Director of Public Relations. This is great […]
Warming Up To Cold Calling
A huge part of being a marketing agent and attempting to find your clients endorsements and partnerships with companies is blindly calling brands, or utilising Ringless Voicemail, and hoping that they bite on your hook. This tactic is called cold calling, and is used with an appointment setting service to try to secure new clients. […]
Randy and Alan Hendricks have a very solid baseball agency in Hendricks Sports Management. While they seem to not publicly list their client sheet on their website, they definitely do not hold back from promoting the fact that Roger Clemens is a Hendricks client. And after Clemens has been bashed by his longtime trainer, Brian […]
Do It Up During Super Bowl Weekend
The Super Bowl is only days away. People are already making their way to Arizona to start eating, drinking, and listening to athletes screw up on Media Day. I have received some information on a few events occurring in the Scottsdale region. Here they are: Why not start off the discussion by promoting a Super […]
Agent Spotlight: Jordan Bazant
While some kickers end up writing books, few end up becoming successful sports agents. Jordan Bazant will read that statement and laugh, because even though he never actually kicked a ball professionally and played for a pretty lousy SEC football team (Vanderbilt), the former kicker currently represents some of the top names in sports. After […]
Book Review: The 4-Hour Workweek
After reading I’m Just a Kicker, I had said that I would drop my future as a successful sports agent to be an NFL kicker (if I had the leg to provide a decent salary). After reading The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss, I no longer want to be a kicker. It takes a lot […]
Who Is Winning In Overtime?
Remember back on December 1, 2006, when I discussed Ryan McNeil’s Overtime (OT) Magazine, and how he should get credit for his success off the field (he never made it in the NFL)? Even if you were a reader of SportsAgentBlog.com back then, I doubt you remember the post. So let me remind you about […]
Remember when I said during the day yesterday that I would save indulging in the finer fruits of life until nighttime? Yeah…well an open bar with unlimited Black Label and a white chocolate fountain made things a little interesting. Anyway, the night started out well. I picked up my date from her apartment and we […]
