Author: Darren Heitner
Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
“He’s young, good looking, stays out of trouble and has a sizable following.” Name that player. Jacoby Ellsbury? Adrian Peterson? Actually, the statement was made by Grace Chen of William Morris Agency (WMA) and he was referring to his client, Yi Jianlian [Not just a face in the crowd]. WMA is very convinced that Yi […]

Trash the cheeseburger (you know it’s not kosher) and get ready for your Friday wrap up of links that I failed to cover during the week. Agents only have 10 minutes to sell their 1st round potential draft picks in the 2008 NFL Draft (down from 15 minutes for each team to select). Hopefully this […]

As if sports agents were not already looked at in a shady manner, the San Fransisco Chronicle picks up the slack and hammers into your skull just how ruthless many of my colleagues may be [A TEMPTING BUSINESS]. If you want to see the minority of an industry exposed, which is something that mainstream media […]
Dad’s Corner: Roll On Red Sox
It seems the only thing I have been right about lately is The Red Sox being the team to beat. The sentimental favorite is Colorodo. Everyone loves Cinderella. Through DH I learned there are 2 possible new football leagues forming. Needless to say, I am old enough to remember the American Football league merging into […]

Channing Crowder Kills Me
I have a bunch of stuff to post, but I had to let it all slide for a couple hours in order to share this amazing story from the Palm Beach Post. It highlights my boy, Channing Crowder (former Florida Gator and current Miami Dolphin), and his hopefully joking attitude. When asked about the upcoming […]
Claude Makélélé plays professional soccer for Chelsea in the English Premiership and for the French International team whenever they play a game. He has three sons. One with current wife, French supermodel Noémie Lenoir. The other two with women while unmarried. Maybe that explains the situation that Makélélé currently finds himself in. Even though Makélélé […]
