Author: Darren Heitner
Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

I graduated from the University of Florida undergraduate school today with a Bachelors in Arts. After I write this, it will be inebriation time with the parentals! Now for your nightmare client: 1. On January 12th, Chris Lesley was talking about the “milestone in sports,” which was David Beckham’s supposed contract that he was going to be signing with the L.A. Galaxy [Earn it like Beckham]. Hell, every sports news service was going crazy about the $250 million that Beckham was going to earn over 5 seasons. Sorry […]
Ron Perrick is an ambitious man. Not only is he a registered agent in Canada, but he also is a practicing attorney. He is experienced in the court and has represented CFL and NHL players since 1970. He also seems to be determined to piss his clients off. Perrick decided to take $926,916 in fees […]
Matt Leinart Just Needs A Big Hug
Remember when I told you that you can Cross CAA Off Of Leinart’s List Of Friends? At the time, no one knew quite why Leinart fired CAA as his marketing agency. I pondered if maybe Matty-Boy did not like Tom Condon or if the snacks at CAA were going down in quality (definitely a selling […]
Keyshawn Johnson may be out of a job for now, but as far as his agent is concerned, he will be on the field this season. There are already rumors abound that the Tennessee Titans and New York Giants are among the many teams interested in the recently cut Keyshawn Johnson. He is definitely a […]
