When Scott Boras isn’t busy eating your children, he is actually baking cookies for his employees. Our boy, Jason Wulterkens, not only knows his fair share about golf, but is knowledgable about the entire industry. He has decided to share a second contribution to this site, and will officially become a contributor after this post […]
Author: Darren Heitner
Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

Matthew […]

Bears 2007 Franchise Tag player, Lance Briggs, wants out of Chi-Town. I opened up ESPN.com yesterday to find Len Pasquarelli telling me that Lance Briggs is very upset with his franchise tag, hates the Chicago Bears organization because of it (makes sure to leave the actual team out of his disgust), and wants to be […]

Going Abroad
Sports Agents and the MLB are on the rise in the Far East, which makes a perfect situation for an aspiring baseball agent who wants to specialize in Asia. There are already many Asian baseball players in the MLB, and according to ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian, the flow of players from the Far East to America […]
1) Vladimir Radmanovic of the Los Angeles Lakers went snowboarding during the All-Star break, separated his shoulder, and has now been fined $500,000 (roughly 10% of his 2007 salary) for violating provisions of his contract and subsequently lying about how he got injured [Lakers fine Radmanovic for lying about injury]. 2) Gary Matthews Jr. of […]
Nate Clements was signed yesterday to an 8-year, $80 million contract by the San Francisco 49ers, making him the highest paid defensive player ever. The deal has made headlines on many sports-media outlets, and the first response of many has been “really?” It is true that an $80 million contract has been signed, but it’s […]
