Author: Darren Heitner
Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.
Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

2006 MLB Draft
While it is definitely not as exciting as the NBA or NFL live drafts, the MLB draft is chalk full of players that will be selected throughout today and tomorrow (June 6th-June 7th). As an intern at Career Sports & Entertainment last summer, I watched the entire draft, making sure that I was the first […]

There were some issues with the server that this blog is hosted on, but all issues have been resolved. I will re-post an issue that I was working on as the server crashed shortly.
IMG (International Management Group) has recently decided that its future growth will be focused on the development of both soccer and motor sports divisions in the agency. George Pyne, IMG’s new president, has declared that as the two largest sports in the world, soccer and motor sports can no longer be ignored as potential markets […]
According a post by the Sports Law Blog, the Sports Agents for Tyrus Thomas (formerly of LSU) have been trying to coerce a major NBA draft ranking website into changing their listing and bump up their client (Mr. Thomas) up from his current position of #7. While it is true that many people are talking […]

In a recent interview, with Jason Whitlock, a reporter for the Kansas City Star, Tom Condon called himself an offensive lineman. The comment was in response to the question of whether or not Mr. Condon cared that he was not as notorious as names like Drew Rosenhaus and Scott Boras in the Sports Agent world. […]
