Throw this one under nightmare of clients, or should I say coaches. The word fine is always associated with Maria Sharapova, but this time it’s for the wrong reason. Maria was fined $2,000 for illegal coaching from the sideline by her father during her quarter final match at the Australian Open.
I’m sure that Maria didn’t plan this coaching and she claims she didn’t notice it, but it demonstrates the need for agents to manage the support team around the athlete, because it can have a negative effect on the client.
