My First Interview

Every other week, this site features an interview with an established agent titled, Interview With The Agent. Today, I had my first shot of being on the other side of the interview process, as I was interviewed on an internet sports radio show.

aStupidRadio, a current sponsor of SportsAgentBlog.com – I Want to be a Sports Agent, had me on their radio show this morning to talk about this blog, the sports agent industry, etc. I had a great time with the interview and I thank them for having me on their show.

If you would like to hear the entire show, click here.

If you would like to only hear the part of the show that was my interview (it comprised most of the show anyway), click here.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. Stumbled across your profile on LSN Darren, congrats on the acceptances. What made you select Florida over GWU? Was it solely the undergrad experience? GWU seems to be a good place for potential agents, good alumni (David Falk included), and a lot of the head offices are in the DC area. Octagon and SFX are in the DC/Virginia area. Not that Florida is a bad choice at all.

Nice interview! I think you handled the fiduciary duty and ethical complications questions pretty well considering they were trying to steer you into a “trap” of sorts with those questions. I personally find that when people ask those sorts of questions, they simply do not know how the sports agency business actually works. There are so many stereotypes, combined with poor news reporting, that people do not always have complete information when it comes to sports agents and their motives when representing a player.
