– With the Australian Federal Election fast approaching, both parties have made their pledges for the minimum they’ll spend when it comes to sport. The current Federal Government has promised a minimum of $129 million into sports funding, while the opposition has promised only $32 million. The majority of the Federal Govermenment’s funding is to aid sports ovals affected by the drought. – Got some role model clients this week. Western Bulldogs players Daniel Cross and Tom Williams saved a drowning woman in Hong Kong. The pair swam 200m meters from shore to save the woman who was believed to be attempting suicide. [Western Bulldogs rescue woman in Hong Kong]
– Trade week in the AFL is just beginning, with the Judd deal still at a stalemate. This is the most exciting time of the season for us budding Sports Agents, as the whole process is fairly transparent.
– Closely related to the trade week is the AFL Draft and the Camp has gotten underway. Judging by the results, it looks like Clayton Hinkley is a very fit athlete. It will be interesting to see how he fairs in the draft with the rigors of the modern game requiring a larger sense of athletic ability.
– SportsBiz has an excellent article on Lewis Hamilton, and if he is to win the F1 Championship this year, he could be looking at around $60 million in endorsements. This would dwarf Raikkonen’s reported $40 million in earnings.
