The Myrtle Beach Pelicans evened up the Mills Cup Finals 1-1 after defeating the Potomac Nationals last night by a score of 6-4. The Pelicans jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, but then the P-Nats relievers kept the Nationals in the game while their batters started to heat up. Kyle Gunderson was one of those strong relievers, who came into the game in the 6th inning and completely shut down the Pelicans. He pitched the 6th and 7th, gave up no runs, hits, or walks, and struck out 4 out of the 6 batters he faced. Gundy and Leatherman are sure having one hell of a postseason.
The Mills Cup Finals is a best-of-five series. The competition now moves venues to Pfitzner Stadium, home of the Potomac Nationals. Game 3 will be Thursday night.
