Noah Coslov of MLB.com recently spoke with Pete Parise while Pete was in New Orleans on a roadtrip with the AAA Memphis Redbirds. Pete is only a call-up away from the majors, which is amazing to think about after reading how he got to where he is today. Coslov looks into Pete’s past in his recent write-up on MLB.com. Here are some bits and pieces:
Over the past 2 years, Pete Parise has called 8 different places ‘home’ – 9 if you count the mound. 10 if you count the outfield.
Buddy [Paine] was the first to tell Parise that his baseball career would be made on the pitcher’s mound, not in the outfield or behind the plate as a catcher. Pete told him that he appreciated the advice, but he was a hitter.
In 11 appearances [with Memphis] spanning 11 innings, he’s 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA while getting ground ball out after ground ball out and holding the opposition to a .244 batting average.
