On Saturday, American Pharoah will attempt a feat not accomplished since 1978: The Triple Crown. Having easily disposed of his rivals in both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, the 3 year-old is the talk of not only racing folk, but the general public.
With the horse at the height of his popularity, American Pharoah now has an agent. Owner Ahmed Zayet has signed the horse with the Leverage Agency. The New York based company will handle American Pharoah’s marketing, sponsorship and product licensing rights. Leverage is no stranger to the marketing of racehorses, having signed California Chrome to a handful of deals last year including Sketchers and Breathe Right.
Ben Sturner, CEO of Leverage Agency, had this to say on the new partnership:
“It’s thrilling to be associated with this incredible Triple Crown contender who has inspired people around the world. We’re excited about the range of impactful marketing possibilities, and look forward to our partnership with Ahmed Zayat, one of the top thoroughbred owners in the country.”
American Pharoah’s breeding rights were also snapped up last week, with that figure increasing should he take out the Belmont Stakes.
