Moves Media Ventures To Enter OTT Network Space As Moves.tv

Moves was “the premier print publication for and about professional athletes” for the past decade and became well known for its annual, celebrity-studded Super Bowl party. The magazine was acquired by Jay Levy in 2014, who relaunched it as a digital magazine focused on sports, entertainment and luxury lifestyle.

OTT content refers to the delivery of audio, video and other media over the Internet without involvement of a multiple-system operator in control or distribution of the content. With platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and more transitioning into the OTT marketplace with long-form programming (movie and TV show streams, etc.), those who have made a splash in the short-form content sector (Bleacher Report) have gradually increased viewership numbers.

With Moves transitioning to Moves.tv, the platform will offer an “all-access pass behind the velvet rope in the VIP world of sports, entertainment and luxury,” by offering direct access to celebrities, special events and lifestyle content, which enables brands to reach professional athletes, entertainers, influencers and fans worldwide.

“The progression to an OTT broadcast network is an obvious one for the Moves brand, given our focus on the luxury lifestyles of athletes and entertainers, and how dedicated fans watch every move they make. We have an opportunity to use the power of video and our celebrity connections to engage and influence consumers on a global scale with branded content, exclusive editorial and VIP events,” said Levy of the transition.

To make this transition to OTT content, Levy has hired Dimitri Falk and Adam Dubov. Falk joins as partner and Chief Creative Officer who will oversee experiential design, celebrity content and strategic social media campaigns. Dubov will become the Senior Vice President of Network Programming.

Levy estimates that this transition to Moves.tv will take six months.
