We have seen technological advancements make major changes and impacts on the sports industry. Founded by Ishveen Anand, OpenSponsorship is leveraging the power of the internet to make the sponsorship more efficient and globally accessible. OpenSponsorship is now the first online platform created to facilitate sponsorship agreements by connecting brands with pro sports rights holders like leagues, teams and even athletes.
Anand, who was recently named to the Forbes 30 under 30, founded OpenSponsorship in September of 2014. Through her previous roles with Commune Sports & Entertainment and Auxus Strategic Solutions, Anand developed a passion for the sports sponsorship sector. “I realized corporate/global sponsorship required technology but it was missing,” said Anand. “We are a technology company first and we focus on providing efficiency and openness,” continued Anand.
As a start-up, OpenSponsorship has made a point to make sponsorship easier for other start-ups as well. The website is free to sign up and use and allows you to make very customized searches so that you can find exactly what you’re looking for. In less than a year, OpenSponsorship has become the largest sports sponsorship network in the world and is already being used by some major corporations such as the MLS, DraftKings, and the NFL. The company was also a finalist in the 2015 Sports Technology Awards for “Best Technology Facilitating Commercial Returns.”
