Autumn Thrills for Sport Fans

The Euro 2016 in France, Olympic Games in Rio and indeed the summer itself may well be over, but there is plenty for sport fans to look forward to as the Autumn season begins to set in. A Coral bookmaker review of the sports index will show you a glimpse at all the events in view, let’s take a little closer at some of the fabulous action on the horizon…

HORSE RACING

On the UK front in weeks to come, Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire festival is one of the highlights of the backend of the season and next month, Ascot will host the hugely successful Qipco Champions Day on their hallowed turf. In Paris, the Prix De L’Arc de Triomphe will this time be run in Chantilly, as the usual venue Longchamp undergoes a facelift. If you’ve been keeping up to date with the latest horse racing news, you’ll know that favorite to win, Postponed, has been in dominant form for his trainer Roger Varian and certainly looks the horse to beat.

Then we cast our eye across the Atlantic to Santa Anita, where the 2016 Breeders’ Cup will be hosted for their annual horse racing bonanza. The brilliant California Chrome is a short price to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic on the final night of action and bring the house down for the second year running.

FOOTBALL

All of the domestic leagues are in full swing around Europe now, the talk of the town has been how impressive Man City and Liverpool look on home soil, while in La Liga and Serie A, Barcelona and Inter Milan have been making waves. The unbelievable trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar is now seeming to reach full fruition in what is surely the best example of an attacking front three the world has ever seen.

The Champions League and Europa League competitions are also in their infancy, so soccer fans have plenty to be excited about as winter creeps in.

NFL

The “greatest show on Earth” has returned and the 2016 NFL Season is well and truly underway with its traditional curtain-raiser, between Superbowl 50 champions, Denver Broncos and runners-up, the Carolina Panthers winning by 21-20. Although all 32 NFL teams will have dreams of reaching Superbowl 51 in Houston on February 5th next year, only 5-6 teams have realistic claims of dining at the top table in early 2017, in what is always a fascinating event. If you’re planning on tuning in to see who will win the Superbowl 51, you might also want to check out Sportsbooks For US Players to see the various odds on each team winning. You might even want to place a bet on your favorite team!

MMA/BOXING

The first ever legal mixed martial arts (MMA) event in New York will take place in Madison Square Garden Arena on November 12th for the UFC 205 card, easily the most eagerly anticipated fight card of all time for the sport’s leading promotion.

There are many names being touted for a place on the card, but none bigger than Irish featherweight champion Conor McGregor, who is expected to step up to 155lb lightweight division to face champ Eddie Alvarez. With Ronda Rousey not in the conversation for a fight in 2016, McGregor is the only name that will suffice for the “main event” slot, but the UFC will have a full card stacked with amazing fights; it’s going to be a memorable night!
