According to Liz Mullen, Roger Montgomery, an NBA agent who co-represents Brooklyn Nets point guard Jeremy Lin, has quietly joined Roc Nation Sports as an agent.
Before joining Roc Nation Sports, Montgomery headed his own firm in San Antonio, Texas called Montgomery Sports Group. He will work with agents Rich Kleiman and Joe Branch at RNS. Kleiman is Golden State Warriors newest superstar Kevin Durant’s agent and Branch is the managing director of RNS’ basketball division.
Montgomery signed Lin out of Harvard before the 2010 draft. Lin went undrafted, but grabbed headlines in 2012 as surprise breakout star for the New York Knicks. Lin brought on Jim Tanner, Tandem Sports & Entertainment president and founder, to co-represent him in 2012.
Montgomery has represented a slew of NBA and international players such as Maurice Evans, Desmond Mason, and Langston Hall. He had a stint playing overseas before co-founding Momentum Sports Management in the late 1990s.
