Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has decided to bring his marketing representation in-house after parting ways with Waterhouse Hayes last fall. Mayfield’s family, who owns the private-equity firm Camwood Capital Group, has hired Chris Talbott as brand strategist.
Mayfield is represented for contractual and on-field purposes by NFL agents Tom Mills, and his father, Jack Mills, at Capital Sports Advisors.
Talbott will lead the strategic marketing efforts for Team BRM (Baker Reagan Mayfield), Camwood Ventures, and Camwood Capital Group. Talbott most recently worked at his own consulting firm, Hef-T. He has had previous marketing roles at BDA Sports, Wasserman, and Microsoft. Team BRM operates as a holding company for all of Mayfield’s marketing deals.
Mayfield’s father, James, founded Camwood Capital Group and Baker’s brother, Matt, works as an acquisitions strategist for the firm. James and Matt have worked closely with Baker’s representation and business ventures, so it made perfect sense to bring the marketing arm in-house.
Mayfield, who was the No. 1 overall pick in 2018 is one of the NFL’s youngest and most marketable stars. He broke Peyton Manning’s NFL record for most passing touchdowns by a rookie, and accomplished the task starting only 13 games.
Some of Mayfield’s endorsements include Nike, Bose, Panini America, New Era and PSD underwear.
