Per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Jameis Winston has parted ways with his agent, Joel Segal of Lagardere Sports. Winston signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the Saints this summer, which experts agree was far below the market-value.
Segal has been Winston’s agent since 2018, and was brought on during Winston’s three-game suspension that season. Now entering his sixth season, Winston will sign with his third agent, if he decides to pursue new representation.
In Winston’s five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers he made 70 starts and completed 61.3 percent of his passes for a 86.9 passer rating. His current deal has includes $148,000 of guaranteed money and can reach up to $2.86 million if he meets certain incentives.
Joel Segal currently ranks as a top 20 agent in commissions, according to Forbes. Segal recently brokered the record breaking four-year, $64 million contract extension for Panther’s RB Christian McCaffrey.
