New York Yankees top pitching prospect Luis Gil has hired Rep 1 Sports for representation according to Jon Heymen. Gil, the Yankees No. 5 overall prospect according to MLB Pipeline was signed by the Twins in the 2014-15 international signing period for $90,000 out of the Dominican Republic.
The Yankees acquired Gil in a trade for Jake Cave following the 2015 season. He has some of the most promising stuff in the Yankees system, with an upper 90’s fastball that can touch triple digits regularly. Gil looks build on a solid 2019 campaign where he posted a 2.72 ERA between Low-A Charleston, and High-A Tampa.
Led by veteran agent Peter Greenberg, Rep 1 Baseball has established themselves as one of the premier agencies in the baseball representation business. Following the acquisition of Peter E. Greenberg & Associates (PEG) from GSE Worldwide back in February, Rep 1 bolstered an already strong client roster with the likes of Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr., Starling Marte, Gio Urshella, and Freddy Galvis.
Along with Greenberg’s clients acquired from GSE, Rep 1 also represents Luis Severino, Rafael Devers, Eloy Jimenez, and Dee Gordon among many others.
