Wasserman Acquires J1S

Wasserman continues its growth in the sports, music, and entertainment industry by acquiring J1S and appointing Michael Jones as the Senior Vice President for Creators. The announcement came from Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for Talent, Jason Ranne. This acquisition also involves all other J1S personnel becoming a part of Wasserman and the launch of a new division named ‘Wasserman Creators.’

Ranne expressed his enthusiasm about this development, stating, “Michael is a serial entrepreneur with an unwavering passion for serving the creator economy and its participants. He and his team will not only expand the suite of services we offer to our existing talent clients but also allow us to start scaling across all aspects of the creator industry, managing talent in their respective genres.”

Michael Jones, who co-founded J1S in 2019 alongside his wife Hannah Haarala Jones, shared his insights, saying, “The decision came down to Wasserman’s company culture matching J1S, and a strong alignment on the creator economy. With the launch of Wasserman Creators, we can continue executing on providing world-class representation, expanding our service offerings, and positioning ourselves in a manner unmatched in today’s environment.”

Jones has a diverse background in sports, entertainment, and talent marketing, giving him a unique perspective on the rapidly growing creator economy. Apart from his professional endeavors, Michael and Hannah parents to their son Sage, and are actively involved in philanthropic efforts across areas such as animal cruelty, human trafficking, and Amblyopia research. Jones and his team will continue to operate from their base in Dallas, Texas.

In a strategic move last month, Wasserman acquired Brillstein Entertainment Partners, a renowned entertainment management and production company. The addition of both J1S and Brillstein strengthens Wasserman’s creator representation, entertainment management, and content verticals, fostering an innovative exchange of services and ideas across these sectors, along with their existing marketing and representation verticals.
