Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up (5/21/2010)

I am smack in the middle of Week 1 of studying for the Florida and Multistate Bar Exam.  If I had no time management skills, I would crash and burn trying to manage studying for this mega test along with everything else I am doing at the same time.  I wish I were out in Arizona instead, enjoying the Sports Lawyers Association’s 36th Annual Conference.  By the way, can I please lock in my season tickets now on the condition that the Miami Heat sign Wade, James, and Bosh?  It could happen…right?  A little over two weeks until the MLB Rule 4 Draft, and we are still adding to the list of players that we are advising every week.  Meanwhile, our MLB affiliated players continue to perform well.  Here are some stories I missed over the past week:

Football

Baseball

Sports Business

By Darren Heitner

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.

Hey Darren, I noticed justin milo is no longer on the uvm hockey team, do you know why he was dismissed? Is this maybe better for him so that he can focus on baseball instead of being a 2 sport athlete? Thanks

Yeah i noticed he is playing full time now, but i guess im asking like why is he no longer with the vermont hockey team, cause we was playing both sports wasnt he? did he quit hockey just to focus on baseball? did something else happen? i follow college hockey and if i remember he was one of the better players in the ECAC

Darren,

Good luck with the studying. I start my prep class June 1st. Time management is key. Best piece of advice I received was study hard, but don’t overstudy. Remember to take some small amount of time each day for yourself to do something fun.
