Sheff Serves Up A Bowl Of Bad Boras

Scott BorasWhat do you know? Scott Boras got hammered publicly again. The main question, though, is whether the criticism of Boras is credible, since it comes from a guy who is more prone to spouting belligerent comments than Boras’ last critic (Kenny Rogers). Gary Sheffield went on a tirade on Thursday, calling out Boras in every way possible, yet leaving most of the orange un-squeezed, waiting until his dispute with Boras is resolved before he goes public about actual misconduct.

Sheffield started off by calling Boras a bad person, but the words spoken became much more harsh. Sheff feels that Boras does not deserve a dime of the 3-year $39 million contract that Boras secured for him in 2003, when he signed with the Yankees. Quite honestly, I am pretty excited to hear what Sheff has to say after he made this comment:

“It ain’t going to be pretty…No fine is going to be big enough. No suspension is going to be long enough…When it’s done, it’s going to be personal with me.

Total hell. I shouldn’t have ever introduced myself to him. Period. Bad person.”

Sheff aside, can you believe that A-Rod still has not spoken a word to Boras since he took Buffett’s advice and negotiated his own contract? Why are these stories not gaining more traction? Does Boras have amazing PR people who are not letting all of this terrible press blow up in his face?

Again, until Sheffield actually comes out and gives some backing to his words, I think it is only right to give Boras the benefit of the doubt in this situation. Mere words do not prove that Boras is a bad guy. I still am very excited to hear more as this story develops.

Until we hear any credible news, I will leave you with some comedy from eTrueSports.com: For being the 1 millionth person to call uber-agent Scott Boras a “bad person” Detroit Tiger slugger Gary Sheffield has won The Ethical Culture Society Sweepstakes and will receive a Toyota Prius and a $100,000 cashier’s check. “I never won anything before,” said Sheffield, “this is really neat.”
