My take
Ingram has three things that make him so dynamic and valuable; his balance, vision, and how hard he runs. Not many tailbacks coming out of college possess the level of these skills that the 2009 Heisman Trophy winner does. Not only does he run hard, he has great quickness to get past the hole and to the second level, where he is extremely dangerous. Being only 5’9” is close to ideal height for a tailback, because it allows them to have leverage on almost everybody who attempts to bring them down. We know the low man always wins, Ingram is that guy 9 times out of 10. People compare him to Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith and for good reason; he wears #22, stands 5’9”, and has very similar running styles. There were lots of doubters of Ingram’s straight line speed, which Ingram has squashed those rumblings by running a 4.53 at his pro day. Not only is he a great runner, he can catch very well and is a fearless blocker. He is the clear top tailback in the class and will be a top 20 pick in 2011.
