Nightmare Clients for the Week of August 13th-August 20th

1. Koren Robinson of the Minnesota Vikings figured that his BMW was immune to the radar gun. He gets busted going 100+mph in a 55mph zone and fleeing police…oh yea, and two counts of DWI (or DUI as we call it in the Sunshine State of Florida) [Vikings’ Robinson charged with DWI, felony fleeing]. He could be forced to sit out this coming year [Koren Robinson’s Expensive Night Out].

2. Lonny Baxter of the Charlotte Bobcats/Italian Montepaschi Siena (you probably remember him in his days at Maryland) was arrested by Secret Service agents after shots were fired from a vehicle in Baxter’s vicinity. The fact that Baxter had an unregistered handgun on him may lead a 7-year jail sentence [Ex-Bobcat Baxter arrested on weapons charges].

3. Alonzo Ephraim of the Cleveland Browns (who was supposed to replace LeCharles Bentley on the offensive line) is the next victim to the NFL’s sustance abuse policy and will miss the first 4 regular season games [Browns center Ephraim suspended four games].

4. Maurice Clarett was involved with the Israeli mob’s Jerusalem Group…this is just getting weird [Clarett Story Continues To Take Scary Turns].

Darren Heitner created Sports Agent Blog as a New Year's Resolution on December 31, 2005. Originally titled, "I Want To Be A Sports Agent," the website was founded with the intention of causing Heitner to learn more about the profession that he wanted to join, meet reputable individuals in the space and force himself to stay on top of the latest news and trends.

Heitner now runs Heitner Legal, P.L.L.C., which is a law firm with many practice areas, including sports law and contract law. Heitner has represented numerous athletes and sports agents as legal counsel. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Indiana University Bloomington from 2011-2014, where he created and taught a course titled, Sport Agency Management, which included subjects ranging from NCAA regulations to athlete agent certification and the rules governing the profession. Heitner serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he teaches a Sports Law class that includes case law surrounding athlete agents and the NCAA rules.
