I am extremely excited for the start of the 2012 Summer Olympics. But this Dan Wetzel story really makes me think little of the International Olympic Committee. The Economist notes that there is a revival of Judaism with a neat map that my undergrad professor of “Geography of the Jewish Population” (that was actually a class I took) would be proud of. My latest on Forbes.com: 1) ScoreBig Aims To Become Leading Ticket Re-Seller Of Sport And Music Events, 2) Rob Gronkowski Signs With William Morris Endeavor To Develop Reality TV Show, and 3) National Letter of Indenture: Why College Athletes are Similar to Indentured Servants of Colonial Times (a guest post by Jason Belzer and Andy Schwarz). Here are some stories I failed to cover in the past week:
Football
- Pee Wee is a unique nickname [Hurricanes coach Al Golden’s staff used booster’s associate in potential recruiting violations].
- Looking at Penn State coach Bill O’Brien’s contract [Stuck in the Middle].
- More on Bill O’Brien [Penn State Coach Could Sue To Leave, But Stands To Gain By Staying].
- Leigh Steinberg talks about what it was like to have to once again sit for the NFLPA Contract Advisor examination [Steinberg: Getting back in the game].
- Ralph Cindrich is never afraid to speak his mind [Pittsburgh sports agent accuses Alabama coach Nick Saban of cheating].
- Apparently general manager Mike Tannenbaum won’t meet with Revis’ reps [Darrelle Revis’ agents, Jets on bad terms, report says].
Olympics
- 1 of 40 2012 Summer Olympic athletes represented by Wasserman [OLYMPIC GYMNAST JORDYN WIEBER SIGNS WITH WASSERMAN MEDIA GROUP FOR REPRESENTATION].
Basketball
- Lack of paper trail often complicates things [NCAA investigating more AAU basketball teams].
