Former Baseball Agent Jason Dubin To Be Sentenced For Computer Tampering With Sexual Motivation

Jason Dubin was once a Phoenix, Arizona-based baseball agent working for a respected agency, Gaylord Sports Management (Gaylord Sports was purchased by Lagardère Unlimited earlier this year), and then served as the CEO and General Counsel for a company named Athlete Advisory Group LLC.  But Dubin’s world came crashing down last year when he attempted to meet two underage girls for a “blowjob tutorial” and was booked for two counts of aggravated luring of a minor.  Since then, I had only heard Dubin’s name on rare occasions from people within the sports agency business, but within the past week his name resurfaced.  That is because Dubin pleaded guilty to “two counts of computer tampering with sexual motivation” and will be sentenced at the end of September.

After Dubin was booked for aggravated luring of a minor, he created a website at www.jasondubin.net.  The website, titled “OPERATION: PROTECT & EDUCATE” promoted “a movement to protect children from inappropriate sexual content on the internet and to educate families on how to handle online dangers to their children.”  It notes that Dubin was a victim of childhood sexual abuse and that he “fears the access and availability of online pornography, sexual predators, and inappropriate consensual relationships through the internet will further affect children at a more alarming rate than in the past.”  The site concludes with a quote followed by the signature, Jason Dubin, J.D.

Dubin has also volunteered for Arizona Helping Hands, Inc., assisting underprivileged and struggling families through mentoring, healthcare, nutritional, holiday and emergency programs.  He will undoubtedly suffer the consequences for his actions, but I think I speak on behalf of the entire sports business community in hoping that Dubin is able to fight off his demons and make the world a better place.

It was reported here in Arizona that these were Undesignated charges, and that they are actually misdemeanors. Not sure what how that works, even so I feel terrible abotu this victim cycle that exists. Glad he is actually doing something to make a difference. I just signed his petition, seems like it makes sense.
