2013 MLB Draft Focus: Sosnick Cobbe Sports

Sosnick
Sosnick Cobbe Sports prides itself on building its client roster through advising players in the MLB Draft.

By the end of the first round of the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, Sosnick Cobbe Sports could have up to five advisees selected by professional baseball clubs.  That would mark a new record for the baseball agency founded by Matt Sosnick and Paul Cobbe – a partnership that has lasted numerous successful years.  Armed with a team of experienced advisors, including Adam Karon and Jon Pridie, Sosnick and Cobbe have been able to help their clients get drafted early in the process with consistency.

Sosnick Cobbe Sports has had a total of seventeen advisees selected in either the first round or sandwich rounds in the past five years.  However, the organization has never had more than four players grabbed by teams in those rounds in any one year.  That could all change in 2013.

The Sosnick Cobbe draft class is headlined by Reese McGuire and Braden Shipley.  McGuire is a catcher from Kentwood High School in Covington, Washington.  Shipley is a right handed pitcher from the University of Nevada.  Insiders have indicated that McGuire is being considered by the Minnesota Twins at the No. 4 overall slot and that Shipley has caught the Marlins’ attention at the No. 6 position in the first round.

The remaining players being advised by Sosnick Cobbe Sports that could be selected as high as the first round or in a sandwich round are: Alex Balog (RHP, University of San Francisco), Andrew Knapp (C, Cal Berkeley) and a high school left handed pitcher from the Bay Area who has received interest from teams in the back-half of the first round, but will not be mentioned herein for eligibility reasons.
